OUR STORY
Proclamation Flowers was started by Katie and Chris Francis in 2017, but we are a farm 5 generations in the making!
The flower field is on the Francis family farm where Chris and his dad grew up. The Francis family used the flower field as livestock pastures for 67 years before Chris and Katie turned it to flowers in 2017. Their kids are the 5th generation of the Francis family to use this land.
About the Property
The farmhouse is the oldest building on the property. It is in the Italianate Revival Style, and dates to the early 1870s. It remains in the family as a private residence to this day.
The flower field itself was once the bank of the Kankakee River, which is now about 1 mile to the west, and it still has the remnants of the river sand, clay, and rock as evidence.
Our Flowers
We grow hundreds of varieties of specialty cut flowers in our acre plus flower field, May - October. With grass paths and a pastoral setting, our flower field is peaceful and serene, a beautiful place to experience nature up close. We value and celebrate the beauty of the flower field, and strive to keep it as natural and as stunning as possible.
Because we value and appreciate our pollinators and insect friends, we grow flowers naturally, chemical-free. We use integrated pest management practices and natural products to help us grow beautiful, long-lasting flowers that are safe for you and your family.

Thank you for your interest! But, no. The house and other buildings on the property are a private residence.

Not livestock. The last sheep left the farm in 2018. We have 3 barn cats (Middie, Maude, and Patches) that you might see, though!

The oldest building is the farmhouse. It was built as a test of the carpenter, to see if they were considered trustworthy to build the main barn! It dates to the 1870s.
